PARTNERS
Our partners make it possible to make Purpose Dogs a success!
Are you also contributing?
Thanks to the above sponsors, we are able to provide assistance dog associations with our puppies.
To reduce the costs for the assistance dog associations further , all resources are needed. You as a company can also contribute to this. Do you wish to help us achieve our goal? Contact us by filling in the form. We will then contact you soon to discuss all possibilities and options in detail.
Our mission is to optimise the physical and character characteristics of developing assistance dogs in a science-based manner and with respect for animal welfare.
In Belgium
As Purpose Dogs vzw, we actively collaborate with several Belgian Assistance Dog Organisations.
Specifically, this cooperation means that the associations will purchase pups from Purpose Dogs vzw and share the lifetime follow-up with us. In this way, a database can be built up, which will help adjust the breeding programme.
We are also Affiliated Member of IGDF
International partners
To increase the success rate of puppies, we work with a breeding programme where the best parents are selected to build a population with fewer congenital problems. Abroad, similar projects have already proven their effect (such as Guide Dogs National Breeding Centre, The seeing eye, Guiding eyes, Cesecah...).
UGent as scientific partner
In a rapidly evolving world, it is very important to keep abreast of new scientific insights and developments. To this end, we cooperate with several laboratories of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Ghent University:
- The animal genetics laboratory (Prof Luc Peelman, Prof Bart Broeckx)
- The ethology laboratory (Prof Christel Moons, Prof Tiny De Keuster; in collaboration with Dr Joke Monteny)
- Reproduction and obstetrics clinic (Prof Ann Van Soom)
- Department of pet medical imaging and small animal orthopaedics (Prof Jimmy Saunders)
